Useful sources for Titanic research.

Google can take one to many interesting Titanic sites. One we have found useful is Wikipedia ‘Titanic crew and passengers’.

An interesting sideline is the sinking of the Oceanos off the South African Wild Coast in August 1991, where despite the captain and crew deserting, over 300 passengers were saved. A useful blog is www.oceanossinking.com by Hill. A book about it can be found in www.uys.com/fortress.

The most victims of a sinking was when the Wilhelm Gustloff was torpedoed in the Baltic by a Russian submarine in May 1945. Over 9,000 German refugees, mainly women and children, died.

  1. Hi!

I hope you don’t mind me emailing you but i wanted to tell you that your resources are great on: http://titanicresearch.com/useful-resources/useful-sources-for-titanic-research/. I am teaching a history course to elementary kids this summer and we decided to send you a suggestion of a resource that we have been using! This page http://www.travelinsurancereview.net/Travel-Facts/story-of-the-titanic.html also has some great resources and talks about the history of the Titanic. My students are really excited about this project!

It would mean a lot to my students if you could add this page to your list of resources! It is a well written article with great information. I believe it will even encourage others to learn and get excited about history! Regardless, i hope you don’t mind the suggestion and i would really appreciate a response as soon as you can. Let me know what you think!

Thanks again and nice meeting you!

    Sincerely,
