My grandfather was not a descendant of French Huguenots.
Changing his name from John Heath Futrelle to the pen name, Jacques Futrelle, led people to think he was a descendant of French Huguenots, since there were many a descendants of French Huguenots in Georgia.
The English names Futrell (no e) and Futral are more common in the area.
I know this from a genealogy expert and relative, Ken Futrelle.

- Bob Futrelle
 Newton, MA
Son of Jacques Futrelle's son, Jacques Futrelle, Jr. (born John Futrelle or maybe John Futrell - there's some confusion on this point).

Growing up we were told that my paternal grandmother, Hilda Leslie, had been, for a time, a housekeeper/companion for the lady on Scituate Cliff ( 1st, 2cd or 3rd cliff?) who had survived the Titanic. If this was Lily Peel Futrelle - my grandmother my have accompanied Mrs Futrelle on a vacation to Florida. My grandmother was later employed by Tobbis Cook(e) of First Parish Rd. My Uncle Harry Leslie lived on Gilson Rd during the 1950-60's and many of our (Leslie) family members are also buried in St Mary's Cemetery.

Hosono, Masabumi, 42. 2nd Class. is noted as the only Japanese on board the Titanic, but the story from Lowe, Harold Godfrey indicates he picked up a Japanese man floating on a broken door; and wondering why the discrepancy?

Question: With the sinking of the Titanic, would the debris field be so dispersed due to the weight and speed of each object as it fell through the ocean to the ocean floor. For example, the boilers, and double bottom pieces.

During my school days we had read a small story in our English text book about 'Miss Evans of Boston America'. Miss Evans was one of the passengers of the ill fated Titanic. A summary of the story is as follows:
After the Titanic had hit the icebergs, the ship was broken and had started sinking! Rescue operation had begun and all the lifeboats (which were not enough in number) were put into the rescue operation. But, there was tremendous chaos on the ship and in the lifeboats. Miss Evans, along with one lady (name not known), had somehow managed to get into one lifeboat. But, the lady's two kids were on the sinking ship crying vigorously for help. The lifeboat was already full and there was no room for anyone else - not even for the two kids! Looking at the plight of the kids (who were going to die) and that of the lady, Miss Evans decided to go back to the sinking ship (knowing very well that she will die since there were no more lifeboats) and allowed the two kids to come down to join their mother! This way the lady and the two kids were survived. But, poor Miss Evans went down with the ship and drowned in the cold waters! Wasn’t it a great sacrifice of life by Miss Evans! Yes, it was! She was really a great human being!

I would love to know exactly who Cosmo Duff-Gordon competed for and what he acheived in the 1908 Olympics. We know he turned up in 1906 and got a silver medal, but you and an un-buyable book are the only two pieces of evidence that suggests he was fencing in 1908.

The story of the great Titanic is heart-touching and i have sympathy with those who died in this incident. There was surely some mistakes resulting to sank the Titanic

I'm wanting to complete a 6 foot scale model of the Titanic and will require some great detail photos in color to carry out this task. Thanks!
